In Canada spring marks the mass northern migration of a variety of bird species. Searching for food, mates and breeding habitat, the males of many species molt into distinct and often colorful breeding plumage. The Great Lakes create a unique situation for bird watching. Birds migrating across these massive bodies of water and seek the first green space on the opposite shore. This essentially funnels the birds into specific locations such as Pointe Pelee and Long Point on Lake Eerie, and Tommy Thompson Park on Lake Ontario.
